Finally, be strong\u00c2\u00a0in the Lord and in the strength of His might.\u00c2\u00a0Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.\u00c2\u00a0 For<\/span><\/em><\/span>\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/span>we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against<\/span><\/em><\/span>\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/span>the rulers, against the authorities, against<\/span><\/em><\/span>\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/span>the cosmic powers over<\/span><\/em><\/span>\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/span>this present darkness, against<\/span><\/em><\/span>\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/span>the spiritual forces of evil<\/span><\/em><\/span>\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/span>in the heavenly places.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span>Ephesians 6:10-12<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

*\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>In a recent Barna survey of Christians, 60% said they think Satan is just a symbol of\u00c2\u00a0<\/span>evil, and not a real, living being.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>Only about 26% said they believe the Devil is alive and real.\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>We know from Scripture Satan IS INDEED<\/span> a real, living being.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

* \u00c2\u00a0<\/span>The danger of thinking Satan is only a symbol, is that symbols are often not taken seriously: they are often excused away as something that is not threatening.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

*\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>The source of the murderous intent in man is the devil, for he was a liar and murderer from the beginning.\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

*\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>The Devil\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s aim is to make our lives miserable, cause problems, and ultimately to take away our faith in Christ.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

*\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>Just as he tried with Jesus, Satan will try to tempt us with portions of Scripture.\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>But he will use variations of God\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Word.\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>He will try using verses that are incomplete and\/or out of context, with the real truth and meaning twisted by what he chooses to add or delete.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

*\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>Satan will be present with us in Church activities, trying to sow discord and undermine what we do.\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>As Luther said, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Where God builds a Church, the Devil builds a Chapel.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

*\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>Christ is more powerful than Satan and has overcome him.\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>After the Devil tried to tempt Him, eventually Jesus had enough and ordered Satan to be gone (Matthew 4:10).\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>Here Jesus exercised His authority as God and gave Satan a command which he had to obey.\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

*\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>Three of the names of the Devil are: Tempter,\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>Devil (which means accuser), and Satan (which means adversary or enemy).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

*\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>When Christ died on the cross, Satan\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s power was limited and he was \u00e2\u20ac\u0153put on a leash\u00e2\u20ac\u009d so to speak.\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>He is now powerless before Christ and God\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s true Word.\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>The only power he has now is what he is given outside that shield of protection.\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>Satan knows His time is short, and his ultimate and eternal destruction is coming when Christ returns.\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>Being limited and knowing his doom fuels his anger to be so active in the world today.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Be sober-minded;\u00c2\u00a0<\/span>be watchful. Your\u00c2\u00a0<\/span>adversary the devil prowls around\u00c2\u00a0<\/span>like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>1 Peter 5:8<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Holy Scripture is very clear on the point that Satan is indeed a real, living being.\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>To regard him as otherwise is dangerous for that can foster complacency and apathy, which is often the opening he is looking for to enable an attack.\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>He will use any method he can, including twisting and misapplying the very Word of God in order to cause doubts in our faith or tempt us.\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>After tempting us into sin, then as the liar he is, he changes his angle and accuses us.\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>When Christ said, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153It is finished,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d so was Satan.\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>He was for the most part \u00e2\u20ac\u0153hung out to dry\u00e2\u20ac\u009d, for the blood of God\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Son had now made atonement for the sins of the world.\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>The accusations of Satan are meaningless for those whose salvation is in Christ.\u00c2\u00a0 <\/span>Satan is a real enemy, but through Christ we are protected.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
